End of Term Antics! Disco, Easter Hat Parade and a Kahoot off!
Although learning is a serious business we don't let it get in the way of some fun! It was a great way to finish off the term and everyone put in an amazing effort with their hats and really enjoyed finishing off tasks, whilst watching a movie and having a snack or two!
Volume City
We have been working exceptionally hard on our understanding of perimeter, area and volume. We have solved a variety of tasks and then using our answers we started to plan our city to the requirements. After we had calculated the area, perimeter, volume and surface area we then started to create our nets to our buildings specifications. Obviously designing and cutting out a variety of nets and working to a scale proved tricky but we were pleased with the outcome!
Pi Day - 14th March
What an interesting day we had. Although we had to start the day with a discussion about why the 14th of March was Pi day (because we are not American and we write the day before the month eg. 14.3.19 instead of 3.14.19) and that Pi is an irrational number not just a delicious food. We did look at the discovery of Pi, how it is used to determine the circumference and area of a circle and that Albert Einstein was born on the 14th of March! After all this mathematical thinking we definitely deserved some tasty pies!
Tennis Clinics - What a way to start a Friday!
We have been lucky enough to have specialist tennis clinics throughout term 1 for sport. Each week our skills have continued to progress and are rallies are getting up over 100 now! Not bad to the start of the term's efforts.
And Week 4 is a Wrap!
Well the year is moving pretty quickly and we were in shock this week to realise it was already week 4!
We have been having lots of fun this year and have also been working hard. We have already been looking at Place Value, Order of Operations and Addition and Subtraction Algorithms this year. In English we have been doing well with our Bell Ringer, with each morning focusing on a a different theme (base words, word of the day, image of the day, quote of the week, sentence correction) and our Wonderopolis and Big Write.
Fridays are proving the most diverse though with Tennis in the morning followed by the iCentre with Mr Hounsell, our banking reconciliations and an afternoon of Special Activity Groups. To top it off, this week our class hosted assembly and we decided to share a bit about us. We hope you enjoy the snapshot!

Start of Year 6!
It has been an exciting and busy start to the year. All our year 6 buddies have done an amazing job supporting their Kindergarten buddies and settling into their new classroom.
So far this year we have already started our units on Cyber Safety and Mindfulness. We have created 'getting to know you' Instagram posts, self portraits and demonstrated our awesome MART (Maths and Art) abilities with our brilliant radial name artworks. And just because our week wasn't full enough, we had our first tennis lessons and SIG (Special Interest Groups) taster sessions. Phew. That was just in our first 8 days. We can't wait to see what the rest of the year will bring!
